Buck Nicholson is the pen name of a Colorado elk hunter. He has spent more Septembers on the mountain than he would like to count, and has come home empty-handed enough times to learn how the elk think. He wrote Elk vs. Hunter: When the Boots Come Back so the next generation of hunters would start a few seasons ahead of where he did.
The idea behind the book: to us it is the wilderness, but to the elk it is a predictable home, so they notice anything out of place. The elk do not have the wrong idea about hunters. They have a different point of view, and from it they know more about us than we know about them.
The brand line is Told by the Beast. Every Buck Nicholson book is told by a different animal, and readers vote on the next one at bucknicholson.com/next.
